Rooms people actually live in, on a budget we agree first

Spatial takes one room or a whole house. Every service below has a budget range attached, and we will tell you in the first hour whether what you want can be done for what you have.

How we charge

A fee, not a margin on your sofa

We take no commission from suppliers, and we will show you the trade price on everything we specify.

Most studios in this category earn on the gap between the trade price and what you pay, which quietly rewards specifying the expensive thing. We charge a fee instead, pass the trade discount to you in full, and publish the invoice from every supplier. It makes us cheaper on a big project and more expensive on a small one, and we will tell you which you are.

How a room happens

  1. 1

    An hour in the room

Free, in your house, with the furniture you already own in front of us. Most of what we need to know is visible in that hour.

  2. 2

    The budget conversation

Before any drawing. What you have to spend, what it will and will not buy, and what to do in stages if the answer is not enough.

  3. 3

    One scheme, properly

One scheme with reasons, not three to choose between. If it is wrong we would rather change it than make you pick.

  4. 4

    Ordering and installing

We place the orders, chase them, and are there on installation day. The trade discount goes to you and every supplier invoice is shown to you.

What clients say

Every supplier invoice at cost. We had no idea that was unusual.
· 4.714285714285714 out of 5 across 7 reviews
  • One scheme with the reasoning written out. We changed two things and that was it.
  • Two hundred and forty dollars and she rearranged what we already owned.
  • They ask about budget in the first message. It felt blunt and then it saved a fortnight.
  • On site the whole installation day, both times.
  • Talked us out of replacing chairs and had them reupholstered instead.
  • Six to ten weeks is mostly furniture lead times. Be patient.

  1. Do you take commission from suppliers?

No, none. The trade discount goes to you in full and we show you every supplier invoice at cost. We earn only the fee on the services page.
  2. Why should I tell you my budget?

Because the alternative is a fortnight of drawings for a room you cannot afford. We have never used a stated budget to price up, and the first hour exists precisely to answer whether the number works.
  3. Will I get options to choose from?

You will get one scheme with the reasons written down. If it is wrong we would rather change it than hand you three and make you responsible for the judgement you hired us for.
  4. Can you do just one room?

Yes, and about half of what we do is exactly that. One room in a house somebody already loves is a harder problem than a whole empty property, and a more interesting one.
  5. What does a room typically cost?

Eight to twenty-five thousand US dollars for a living room including our fee, and that spread is real rather than a hedge. The journal has a full itemised breakdown of a real eight-thousand-dollar room.
  6. How long does it take?

Six to ten weeks for one room, most of which is lead times on furniture rather than design. A whole house runs four to six months.
  7. Are you on site for the installation?

Always, for the whole day. It is the day everything either comes together or does not, and it is not a day to leave to a delivery driver.
